About PTP and how we train

Are you a mobile first aid training provider?
Yes. PTP is a mobile first aid training provider. We come to your workplace and bring all the equipment, so there is no need to travel or lose a day off-site. Whether you are arranging training for yourself or for a whole team, we deliver on-site at a time and place that suits.
Where do you deliver, and what areas do you cover?
We can deliver anywhere in Australia. Our core team is based in Sydney, and we have trainers who can run sessions in other states and regions with enough notice.
What types of workplaces do you train?
We deliver first aid training to workplaces of all kinds, including childcare and early education centres, corporate and office teams, aquatic and leisure centres, gyms and fitness studios, hospitality and licensed venues, security teams, councils and community organisations and more. Sessions run with up to 24 learners per trainer, and we tailor the scenarios to your setting.

Courses and choosing the right one

Which first aid course do I need?
It depends on the workplace. HLTAID009 Provide CPR is a short CPR only course, often renewed every year. HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support builds on CPR with basic emergency response. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the standard workplace first aid certificate covering CPR and a broad range of injuries and illnesses. HLTAID012 First Aid in Education and Care Setting is the one required for staff in schools, childcare and education settings. If you are not sure, contact us and we will help match the course to the role.
Is first aid the same as CPR?
No, but they are related. CPR (HLTAID009) focuses only on cardiopulmonary resuscitation. First aid (HLTAID011) includes CPR plus wound care, burns, fractures, anaphylaxis and a wide range of other emergencies. First aid includes CPR, but a CPR certificate on its own does not cover the broader first aid skills most workplaces require.
Which course do I need to work in childcare or education?
HLTAID012 First Aid in Education and Care Setting. It is the course education and care employers require, and a standard HLTAID011 does not meet that requirement on its own.
Can I complete the course entirely online?
No. The theory and knowledge component is completed online beforehand, but the practical skills and assessment must be done face to face. This is an ASQA requirement, because CPR and first aid skills have to be physically demonstrated and assessed in person.
Do I need to do anything before the training day?
Yes. Each course includes self-paced eLearning to complete before the session. Finishing it beforehand means less time away from work and more time on hands-on practice on the day.
How long does each course take?
HLTAID009 Provide CPR takes around 3.5 hours in total, about 1 hour of eLearning plus 2.5 hours on-site. HLTAID010 Basic Emergency Life Support takes around 4 hours. HLTAID011 Provide First Aid takes around 6.5 hours. HLTAID012 First Aid in Education and Care takes around 9 hours. Each includes self-paced eLearning beforehand plus face-to-face training and assessment at your workplace.

What to expect on the day

What should I wear and bring on the day?
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in, with trousers rather than a skirt or dress, and closed-in shoes, as you will be practising on the floor. Bring your Unique Student Identifier (USI), photo identification and your completed eLearning. That is all you need, we provide everything else.
What equipment do you provide?
Everything needed to train and assess, including adult and infant manikins, an AED training device, training auto-injectors and inhalers, bandaging and consumables and more. There is nothing you need to supply.
What CPR is taught?
Adult and infant CPR aligned to current Australian Resuscitation Council guidance, along with use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). When the protocols update, our content updates.

Eligibility and enrolment

Are there any entry requirements?
There are no formal entry requirements. To take part safely you need to be able to perform CPR for at least two minutes on a manikin placed on the floor, have basic English language skills to follow instructions and complete the assessment and be physically and mentally fit to participate in practical scenarios.
Can under 18s enrol?
Yes. In fact many of our learners are under 18. They include school students who work after school as swim teachers or in after-school care, along with young people who have left school and taken up apprenticeships.
What if a condition affects how I take part?
Let us know before enrolment and we will apply reasonable adjustment. Reasonable adjustment changes how you demonstrate competence, for example verbal instead of written questions or additional time, but it cannot change the skills the unit requires. We support learners with disability, learning difficulty, language literacy and numeracy needs or a temporary medical condition.
Do I need a Unique Student Identifier (USI)?
Yes. Australian Government regulation requires every learner in nationally recognised training to have a USI. It is free and takes about five minutes to create at usi.gov.au. Without a verified USI we cannot issue your Statement of Attainment.
Can I get recognition for skills I already have?
Yes. If you have substantial first aid, CPR or emergency response experience you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning, which can reduce or remove the need to train. The RPL application fee is 50 percent of the standard unit fee. If you already hold a current Statement of Attainment for one of these units from another provider, Credit Transfer may apply instead, usually at no cost. Contact us to discuss either pathway.
How do I enrol?
Request a tailored quote through any Request a Quote button, or contact us directly. Once the booking is confirmed you complete a short enrolment form, provide your USI and confirm you have read the Pre-Enrolment Information. There is no obligation and no pushy sales.

Assessment and certificates

How am I assessed?
Assessment is built into the same session as your training, using three methods: practical observation of your skills, a scenario-based assessment where you respond to simulated incidents and a knowledge assessment answered in writing or verbally, your choice. Your trainer briefs you on the process at the start and supports your success throughout.
When do I receive my certificate?
Once you are assessed as competent and your USI is verified, we issue your nationally recognised Statement of Attainment as a PDF within 24-48 hours.
How long is my certificate valid?
HLTAID009 Provide CPR is valid for 12 months. HLTAID010, HLTAID011 and HLTAID012 are valid for 36 months. Many workplaces require an annual CPR refresher and a full first aid refresh every three years, so it is worth booking a renewal a few weeks before a certificate expires.
Is my certificate nationally recognised?
Yes. PTP issues nationally recognised Statements of Attainment that are accepted by employers and regulators across Australia.
What happens if I am found Not Yet Competent?
The fee includes two free re-assessment opportunities. A third or later re-assessment attracts a nominal fee. A Not Yet Competent outcome is not a basis for a refund, as the fee covers training and assessment rather than a guaranteed result. We will talk through alternative pathways if they are needed.
What if I lose my certificate?
A replacement Statement of Attainment, including an update for a legal name change, is available for a small fee.

Fees, payment and refunds

How much do the courses cost?
Pricing starts from $75 per learner for HLTAID009, $100 for HLTAID010, $150 for HLTAID011 and $160 for HLTAID012, with group discounts available. Final pricing is confirmed in your booking quote and all fees include GST where PTP is GST registered.
How do I pay?
Once the booking is confirmed we issue a tax invoice. Payment is by electronic funds transfer or card.
Is a first aid course tax deductible?
Often, yes. If the training relates to current work, helps maintain or improve skills used in the job, or is required by an employer, it may be tax deductible. Keep the invoice and certificate as evidence. This is general information only and not tax advice, so check with a tax professional.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If you withdraw seven or more days before training you receive a full refund. With less than seven days notice you receive a 75 percent refund, with 25 percent retained for administration and equipment preparation. With less than 24 hours notice or a no-show on the day you receive a 50 percent refund. Withdrawing during a session is not refundable except in exceptional circumstances such as a medical emergency or family bereavement, considered case by case.
What if PTP cancels or postpones?
You receive a full refund, or you can transfer to the next available session, whichever suits. Refunds are processed within 14 days.
Is there a cooling-off period?
Yes. We apply a seven-day cooling-off period during which you can withdraw and receive a full refund of any prepaid fees, provided you withdraw before training commences.
What if I am facing financial hardship?
Contact us to discuss options such as a payment plan, a reduced fee or deferred enrolment. Every decision is documented and confirmed to you in writing.

Support, complaints and privacy

What learner support is available?
We provide language literacy and numeracy screening before enrolment, reasonable adjustment, trainer support throughout the session, post-session reference materials, two free re-assessments and referral to external services where support needs go beyond what we can provide directly.
How do I make a complaint or appeal?
Most concerns are resolved by speaking directly with your trainer or with us. If a concern is unresolved, submit a formal complaint in writing to our Compliance Manager. We acknowledge it within 5 working days and respond with a decision within 20 working days. To appeal an assessment decision you have 20 working days, and an independent qualified assessor reviews the evidence. If you are still not satisfied you can escalate externally to ASQA, the NSW Ombudsman, the OAIC or NSW Fair Trading.
How is my personal information handled?
We manage your information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, and we collect only what we need to enrol you, deliver training, issue your certificate and meet our regulatory obligations. We share information with NCVER for mandatory reporting, the USI Registry to verify your USI and ASQA at audit or regulatory request. You can access and correct your information at any time.

Good to know

Do I need a first aid certificate for work?
It depends on the workplace. Work health and safety laws, known as occupational health and safety laws in Victoria, require workplaces to have enough trained first aiders based on their size and risk, and some sectors such as education, childcare and construction have specific requirements. Many employers also require first aid as a condition of the role. If you are unsure what a workplace needs, we are happy to help you work it out.
Can I be sued for helping in an emergency?
Australian Good Samaritan protections cover people who help in good faith, without expecting payment and within their training. First aid training is about giving you the confidence and skill to act when it matters. This is general information only and not legal advice.
